Hi,

I have asked Amlogic support about source kernel of soc M802.

"Hi,

I'm a free android developer and have onda v975m tablet with soc M802. Is it possible to have source kernel ? Thanks"

I'm not a developer really...

Answer

"Thanks for your email. I am sorry our openlinux focuses on IDH or OEM instead of personal developer"

What does it mean?

It means that they are violating the GPL here.

They are restricting access to the source (which is GPL by the way) to their partners only.

They are taking the work of open source community and make money out of it, without following the license rules.

Reply the mail and tell them they can not do this.

If they don't listen we will take legal action!

A very successful kernel developer is DoomLord from xda... He has made numerous good kernels for the two soxy xperias I have.

I will try to kindly message him and show him this thread, hopefully he may agree and check.

Lets see, fingers crossed...

Doesn't compile.

Calls some binaries I can't find in any ARC toolchain:

arc-elf32-em4-cpp

arc-elf32-em4-as

arc-elf32-em4-ld

arc-elf32-em4-objcopy

arc-elf32-em4-elfdump

Is the Amlogic company really violating the GPL licence? Please update me. I'm really interested in building my own U-Boot bootloader with debugrom mode from sources for my Amlogic 8726-MX SoC.

arc-elf32-cpp is maybe the renamed program binary which have been meantioned above.
