Why some tabs are slow and laggy and others are not

Recommended Posts

I did the test and it seems that the tablet does not have a cooling pad (V3 1.09 official). I got temps around 67°C. Does this mean that an upgrade to 4.4.2 version will slow down the performance of the tablet?

I've put this on my CPU, now my 975mV3 seems more stable.

In what way is it stable? are we talking temperature of CPU or stable as in responsive tablet?

I mean that my V975 doens't freeze anymore. Moreover I got 31.437 on Antutu (with original 4.4 firmware).

Before I was around 24.000, and, after 30 minute of intense activity (I  mean candy crash playing) display over processor becomes a furnace and V975 stop working (freezes).

Display yet becomes a little hot but it doens't burn anymore. Alas my temperature sensor always says 30 degree I cannot say how much I've improved.

Thanks, Sandpit!

Did you use any thermal paste (like ArticSilver) between the processor and the thermal pad?

How are your temps now? Did the lag stop?

No paste, the pad I got was naturally tacky like the stock one (if you are lucky enough to have a stock one!) Peak temperatures reduced by about 8°C. I never really suffered from bad throttling lag, but I do occasionally get a little input lag. no real difference in performance but it's nice to know I am not about to fry the tab.

This is strange. I did the CPU temp test mentioned in the 1st post with stock 1.09 V3, and i got temps around 67°C. After upgrading the tab to 2.0.1 stock, the CPU temp stays always at 30°C. Although i cannot see the exact temps now, i feel that they are much higher than with 1.0.9. I think it is time to open the tab to check what is going on in there...

Using a Peltier is nonsense! A Peltier is not a passive heat pump; it is ACTIVE!

Means you have to feed it - mostly for such small elements - with 12V and about the same power as it has to transport as heat.

This will drain your battery extremely fast if you have a regulation for it and within minutes if you use it without temperature control.

Your tab's back will go to >100°C then!

I would say there is no problem of lack of thermal sensor. I dont understand how but for me ( I have also fixed cpu temp readings 30'C) the thermal logs located in sys/devices/system/cpu are hard coded to "30". Can someone who have dynamic proven cpu temp. readings check what they have inside this logs ?

My tablet doesn't read the temperatures (stuck at 30ºC). Inside the "cpu" folder (sys/devices/system/cpu), in which file are the logs located? How did you fix it?

Thanks!

Just want to share my experience in the tablet temperature.

When i has using the factory Android 4.2 and thermal pad, the temperature rises to 75ºC degrees when running antutu.
So i made the update to Rozak 2.0.1 V3 android 4.4 and changed the thermal pad to a 1,5 mm thickness.
Now the temperature don't raise more than 50-52ºC when running antutu.

Just after i open the tablet, original thermal pad.

I made a hole in this yellow film to better dissipate the heat.

Difference between the two thermal pads.

After place the new thermal pad.

Good job Mits360 and well documented.

Could you add type and maybe a ordering information about the pad you used?

Other members might find this info helpful.

Thanks for all the posts. I just opened my V3: the cooling pad was there so I just cut a square in the yellow foil.

[Next problem: the micro-usb cable getting more and more loose in the socket. It's an original Onda cable, it is about to fall out of the female connector... ==> solved, I used a needle to bend up the two clips on the male connector a bit and now it is fine again]

Got my v3 opened for the first time. There was a cooling pad there. But mine gets too hot too. ordered this one: http://goo.gl/RyirTo

Hopefully the temps will be better and the clock speed stays at 1.99 ghz instead of downclocking to 1.2 ghz when 80 degrees.

I just ran CPUtemp and Antutu for the first time on my v4 tablet. It reports a straight line of 65 °C, no changes at all.

Anyone knows how to get a real temperature reading?
